GEAUX TEAL OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS WALK HISTORY
The inaugural Geaux Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness Walk was held in April of 2013 and featured 216 walkers. In 2014, just our second year, our premier event doubled to 446 walkers!
Our growth did not stop there. Our numbers grew to 532 walkers in 2015, 566 walkers in 2016 and climbed to an astounding 815 walkers in 2017. The 2018 walk was the first year we crossed 1,000 walkers! We set a new record in 2019 with 1,080 walkers!
Throughout the years, we have continued to focus on our founding mission: to raise awareness for women of all ages about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. We are continually inspired by the hundreds of walkers who join us each April.
The date for the 2020 Geaux Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness Walk will be announced in early fall.
The inaugural Geaux Teal Ovarian Cancer Walk was held on April 20, 2013.
We raised just over $16,000 at our first event. Pictured L to R are committee members Lauren Taylor, Beth Torina and Kelsey White.
Committee members react after revealing "the check" during the 2019 Geaux Teal Walk opening ceremony. Seven years after hosting our first event, we were proud to welcome 1,080 walkers and reveal a check totaling over $87,000!
