2025 Geaux Teal Walk

Baton Rouge, LA

March 29, 2025

The 12th Annual Geaux Teal Walk was a powerful and inspiring event, drawing over 600 participants in a show of community support for those affected by ovarian cancer.

Due to rainy weather, the event was relocated to LSU Tiger Stadium, where the spirit of the walk remained strong. despite the change in venue, participants enthusiastically came together to raise awareness and show solidarity. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to LSU for generously offering the use of the stadium to host our Walk in a safe, dry and welcoming environment.

The day was highlighted by heartfelt speeches from two courageous ovarian cancer survivors and Woman's Hospital GYN Oncologist.

Dr. Renee Cowan emphasized the importance of recognizing the early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, which can often be subtle and easily overlooked. She stressed that paying close attention to your body and noticing changes that persist over time is crucial. Not only this, but Dr. Cowan discussed the significance of being proactive, as well as seeking medical advice and staying current with check-ups in order to increase the odds of earlier detection. Listening to your body could make all the difference.

Ovarian cancer survivor Kendall Stevens, spoke of her journey through treatment, surgery, and unimaginable challenges that had given her a powerful sense of purpose to advocate for greater ovarian cancer awareness.

Krystal Hamilton, an ovarian cancer survivor, shared how essential a strong support system was throughout her journey. The unwavering emotional support from her family and friends gave her the strength to persevere through the most challenging days. She also spoke about how the Geaux Teal grant provided not only financial assistance but also a sense of hope, reinforcing that she wasn’t fighting alone in her battle against cancer.

After the walk, attendees enjoyed food and drinks, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere. Thanks to the dedication of everyone involved, the event was both meaningful and memorable.
